There are individuals and partners (several individuals) who maintain blogs that link to free downloadable files you might be interested in. They maintain blogs (like the Snake and the Dragon). Their files are stored somewhere else, not on their blogs. The linked file/s may or may not be theirs.
Other individuals share their files through torrents. You already know that so this tutorial will not delve on that topic.
Still others share their files through file hosting sites. Then they post their links in forums (fora is the correct plural form). Examples of these fora are:
1. stairway to heaven
2. http://avaxhome.ws
3. khm3r (already linked on the right column of this blog)
Examples of file hosting sites are:
Badongo
Bitroad
DepositFiles
DivShare
EasyShare
FileFactory
FileSend
Ftp2Share
GigaSize
Gigashare
IceFile
KewlShare
LetItBit
MediaFire

Paid4Share
Rapidshare
SaveQube
SharingMatrix
sms4File
SnapDrive
Swoopshare
Sendspace
Turboupload
UploadBox
UploadOk (.net, Vietnamese like)

Up-File (.org, Arabic)
VIP-File
YouSendIt
Ziddu
4Shared (has its own search engine)
Note: Searching for files stored in RapidShare and MegaUpload. (There's a rapidshare search link in the right column, right?) Right-click to open in a new window and use for searching files from RS and MU. RS is not Rubber Soul, nor Ron Snake. MU is not Metal Unicorn, nor Multiple User. Got that?
Another note: You can also go to http://4megaupload.com to search for files stored in MU. Were I a girl in this life, we would be having MU.
Blogs
Google for blogs, e.g., "(keyword) blog"
keyword, or key phrase can be artist name, movie title, or the word mp3
I have already shown you how to Google for indexes (FTP Indexes or Dexes, for short).
There is a download tutorial for file hosts here:
BRA http://comobaixar.blogspot.com/
ENG http://hey-howto.blogspot.com/
Most of the time the files, especially movies, are archived in parts, e.g. Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, etc. That is because most of the file hosts limit the size of the files to 100 MB max, for free accounts. If that is so, download them all then unarchive (unRAR, unZip) the first one. All the parts will be also unarchived automatically.
Sometimes the files come with passwords, mind you. You may end up with an archive that you can not open because you did not note the password. In that case you may use password recovery apps or try to go back to the site where you got the download link in order to get the password.
